Drive by Covid-19 testing is available at the clinic

What is the drive by testing process?

Call our friendly reception team and book a Telehealth consult with the doctor
The doctor will assess the situation and confirm the time for your testing
Results will be available between 16-48 hours
The doctor will call you to advise the results and discuss anything further if needed
Drive by testing fee – $100 ($38.20 rebate for Medicare card holders)

Q: My child attends school with a child diagnosed with COVID 19 – does my child need to be tested?

A: NSW Health will contact respective families if they need to be aware. Otherwise testing is only required if symptomatic.

Q: My child has a runny nose. Should they get tested?

A: Yes – any sign of respiratory illness (sore throat, cough, shortness of breath or fever) requires a test.

Q: What do I expect if I take my child for a test?

A: You will be asked questions about your child’s symptoms and medical history so the doctor can assess if your child is stable. Three areas will be swabbed as this ensures a good specimen and results – the throat and both nostrils. You will be notified of your result within 24-48 hours.

Q: If I have asthma – am I more at risk of catching COVID-19?

A: No you are not. But you must ensure your asthma management plan is up to date with your GP and you have had a flu vaccine.

Q: Will the flu vaccine protect me from catching coronavirus?

A: No. The flu vaccine protects you against the current strains of circulating influenza. Being protected against influenza is reassuring as the combination of catching influenza and COVID-19/Coronavirus may make your condition worse.

Q: How long does it takes to get results for COVID-19/Coronavirus test?

A: It will depend on the pathology company, but normally it takes 16-48 hours.

Q: I just got tested, can I go to the shops?

A: No, if you got tested then you or your doctor think you may have the virus. You should self-isolate until you get your results.

Q: If I have flu like symptoms should I come to the clinic?

A: Give us a call first. We will triage you over the phone and book you for a Telehealth consultation with your doctor.

Q: I need to get tested for COVID-19, can I take public transport to the clinic?

A: If you need to be tested do not use public transport. If possible use your own car or call your doctor for advice/ referral for home testing.

Q: How can I get tested if I don’t have a car?

A: Your doctor can assess you over the phone and send a request to the pathology company which will come to you.

Q: During this time – I feel more anxious. I have lost my job and I am lonely isolating. I miss my family. What help is there for me?

A: This has been a particularly difficult time for some people and the GPs operating from our Medical Centres are able to use telephone and video consulting to help you through this time. Your GP will be able to make recommendations for you and may be able to refer you to a psychologist who could help you during this time. Financial support for psychological treatment is available for eligible patients.
